New Day Of Clashes In The Palestinian Territories
These scenes are now very frequent, almost daily for a week but have become more intense this Friday, the day of the great prayer. Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets to demonstrate their support for the prisoners on hunger strike, setting fire to tires and throwing stones at Israeli forces.
In the West Bank, the most violent clashes erupted in the northern region of Nablus. But clashes took place also in the center, a few kilometers from Ramallah as well as in the cities of Bethlehem and Hebron in the South. Israeli forces responded by firing rubber bullets. And nearly twenty Palestinians were arrested.
In the Gaza Strip, clashes took place along the border with Israel. Again, protesters - mobilized by Hamas in power in the territory - burnt tires and threw stones at Israeli forces.
They responded with tear gas, deafening grenades and opened fire near the town of Khan Younes in the south. Three days after the arrival of Donald Trump, the tension is increasingly intense in the Palestinian territories.
