US Army Announces The End Of Its Operations Against The Jihadists In Sirte

The US military officially ended its operation against the jihadists in the Libyan city of Sirte, according to US officials said on Tuesday.

The US Department of Defense launched the first of August, this process is to help the Libyan forces to expel Islamic extremists of this coastal city.

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) that "in partnership with the Libyan government of national reconciliation, the process culminated with success" and allowed defeating the jihadists.

And targeted ships, fighter aircraft, and unmanned Islamic state regulation sites during 495 visits.

Said Peter Cook, spokesman for the US Defense Department, "We are proud to support the campaign to eliminate the organization Islamic state in the only city that was controlled by outside Iraq and Syria," saying that US aircraft could intervene again if asked Libyan reconciliation government.

The president of the government of reconciliation Fayez OS Saturday formally edits Sirte, after it announced its forces in the December 5 to regain control of the city.
